Hi Exchange team, Is the Exchange 2007 message tracking tool only to be used for emails leaving the organization - email addresses that are outside the exchange information store?

Hi, Exchange message tracking records the SMTP activity of messages being sent to and from Exchange servers running the Edge Transport or Hub Transport roles. So we use this feature to troubleshoot and deep analysis of the mail flow. you can refer to this link for help:http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/exchange-2007-message-tracking-part1.html Best regardsBest Regards Don't forget to mark it as answer if it helps

It tracks messages in your exchange organization through HT, Mailbox and Edge servers (you cannot use/configure it on a CAS) It is not enabled by default and you can check the status with: Get-MailboxServer SERVERNAME | fl *messagetracking* and enable/disable with Set-TransportServer SERVERNAME –MessageTrackingLogEnabled $false or $trus If you want to use it for email leaving your organization, you can keep tracking those email till they reach the Edge server (if you enable it on the edge server too of course)
