8TB or something like that. Although if you get anywhere near that, then you have bigger problems to worry about. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hi, The default database size limit for Exchange 2007 Standard Edition is 50 gigabytes (GB). There is no default database size limit for the Exchange 2007 Enterprise Edition. You can modify the database size limit by adding or changing a value in the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\<SERVER NAME>\Private-<database GUID> More information about Exchange 2007 Enterprise - Store limit: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232092(EXCHG.80).aspx

If you have Standard Edition and you reach the 50 GB mark, would the database dismount? What would happen?

If you have Standard Edition and you reach the 50 GB mark, would the database dismount? What would happen? The database dismounts and you can immediately remount it. The 50gb limit is only a soft limit. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232092(EXCHG.80).aspx Although the 50gb limit is actually old information - since Exchange 2007 SP1 the limit is 250gb. If you restart the information service, then look in the event viewer, look for event ID 1216 MSExchangeIS mailbox store and you will get something like this: "The Exchange Store "First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" is limited to 250 GB. The currently physical size of this database (the .edb file) is 2 GB. If the physical size of this database minus its logical free space exceeds the limit of 250 GB, the database will be dismounted on a regular basis." http://blog.sembee.co.uk/post/Exchange-Database-Size-and-Limits.aspx Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK?
