Exchange 2007 Log not deleted after backup
Hi, Currently, I have encounter that my Exchange 2007 Server transaction Logs not deleted after a completed backup. The backup software used to backup the Exchange Server was Symantec Backup Exec 12.5. After some testing, I found out that the failure to remove the logs was due to my Standby Continous Replication enabled for my Exchange Server. After disabling SCR, my backup job was abled to deleted the transaction logs after a full backup. My concern is that I using SCR as my DR option for Exchange environment. Disabling SCR mean that I do not have a DR option in case my Exchange Server fails. Can anyone advise if there is some workaround with SCR enabled and Backup is able to delete the transaction logs after a full backup.Best Regards Zhu-Er

Hi, Please read Log Truncation section of following whitepaper: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535020(EXCHG.80).aspx#LogTrunc Please understand that the Replication service (on the target node if CCR or SCR is deployed) and the Information Store service communicate over RPC regarding which log files can be deleted on the source; ESEBACK.DLL then performs the log truncation.
