Exchange 2007 Install Error - Installing Assembly microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.dll Out of Memory
Greetings, I am installing the first Exchange server in the organization. The server is the FSMO master and it is the only Windows 2003 server in the AD. It is also a Global Catalog Server. All other servers are W2K. Server 2003 is R2 Standard X64 SP2 and Exchange is 2007 Standard X64. Hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2950, dual core Xeon, 4 gig memory, PERC5 disk controller. It is a standard install, Mailbox, Client Access and Hub Transport, no Unified Messaging single server. During the install all checks work out fine, the files copy and the install then dies during the Hub Transport Role install with an exit code -1. The log entries around the failure are: [6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Beginning processing.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Exchange tracing provider was installed successfully.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Ending processing.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Beginning processing.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Exchange tracing provider was installed successfully.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Ending processing.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [1] Processing component 'All Roles Precompile Management Binaries' (Pre-compiling management binaries.).[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [1] Executing '$fullPath = [System.IO.Path]::Combine($RoleInstallPath, "bin\microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.dll"); precompile-ManagedBinary -BinaryName $fullPath;', handleError = False[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Launching sub-task '$error.Clear(); $fullPath = [System.IO.Path]::Combine($RoleInstallPath, "bin\microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.dll"); precompile-ManagedBinary -BinaryName $fullPath;'.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Beginning processing.[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Starting: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe arguments: install "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin\microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.dll"[6/7/2007 9:12:44 AM] [2] Process standard output: Microsoft (R) CLR Native Image Generator - Version 2.0.50727.42Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1998-2002. Does anyone have any idea why the install is failing? Thanks for your help in advance! Scott

Scott, I have an almost identical environment, except that my servers are all running as member servers. I have installed a lot of E2K7 servers via RDP with no problems, but almost always, I use MSTCS /CONSOLEso that I am using the console session, so I am not sure if that helps or not. On all of my Dell 2950's, I ran the Dell v5.2 SUU after getting the machine fully patched. I doubt this is a device driver or firmware issue, though. I'm also running Dell OpenManage v5.2, as well. Is this your first E2K7 server?

It is my first Exchange 2007 server and it is the first Exchange server in the AD. I have run the install while standing at the console instead of using remote desktop because I haveseen alot of posts about trouble using it during the install in my pre-install research. Scott

What about Dell OpenManage and SUU? I'm wondering if either of those might be causing you RPC issues.

I have removed all of the Dell apps and I have also set the Data Execution Protection to critical Windows services and files only. I am still having the same issue. This is just strange that I am the only person to ever see this. I can't find this error anywhere else. Scott
