Exchange 2007 How to restore contacts to mailbox from the Recovery Storage Group
I have a number of mailboxes to restore that have been deleted accidentally. This restore needs to done using the mailbox GUID as the identity as the user mailboxes were recreated in the Exchange environment, so now are different from the backed up Mailbox GUID. So the merge option is not available. I can successfully restore the mailbox messages, but contacts are not being restored. The command I am using is: Restore-Mailbox -RSGMailbox '<Mailbox GUID>' -RSGDatabase 'RSG1\Mailbox Database' -Identity '<Mailbox GUID>' -TargetFolder '<Username>' However, the users contacts are not restored. Could anyone advise how to get the contacts back? Thank you

Very odd, perhaps to overcome this limitation you can use ExMerge to just go after the contacts and export them to PST and then import the PST to each of the new mailboxes? True that ExMerge is not officially supported but you can make it work http://www.exchangeinbox.com/article.aspx?i=88 Other option is to use Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp since it can open and offline EDB so that you can Browse, Search, Export to PST, MSG or XML or Recover data directly to the original or an alternate production Exchange server (Even works cross version) FYI the DEMO license will allow you to OPEN any offline EDB so that we you see whats within and even do a random sample exportTroy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

Hi Steve4586, Any updates? Do you mean all users' contacts cannot be restored? Please try to run the Restore-Mailbox with parameter -IncludeFolders \Contacts to restore the contacts to test. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
