Exchange 2007 Global Address List to Personal Address Book Synchronization
We're not on Exchange but on another vendor's e-mail system. I've also searched but haven't had much success so far so here goes. Are address book changes in the Global Address List (which I assume is the system address book) NOT synchronized down to the PAB's of users? If these changes are synchronized can this be turned off?Thx!

Do you mean the offline address book? If the Outlook client is in online mode ( As opposed to cache mode), then it will use the online GAL.http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/CH010045991033.aspx

Not entirely. Here's the scenario:1) User is in the office, VPN'd in, or TS'd onto the network2) User has the Global Address list3) User has one (or multiple) personal address books. The address entries in the PABs may be of users in the Global list as well, but with additional information, ie. birthdays, kids names, etc.So if a user is deleted or an address is changed (ie. phone number change, last name change, etc) in the Global list, is the deletion or addresschange(phone number, last name, etc) pushed down to the PAB, resulting in deletion of the address or change in the address on the PAB?

No. However you can export GAL to PAB, there's no automatic synchronization between them. By the way - are you using old Outlook? PAB is an obsolete feature and is no longer supported. It has been replaced with Contacts.

In that scenario, no. Note that Personal Address Books are no longer used in anycurrent versions of Outlook. The contacts folder that is contained within the mailbox is the recommended choice.
