Exchange 2007 Enterprise Maximum MDB error
I've just added a new Exchange 2007 Enterprise server to an organization running Exchange 2003 Enterprise. When creating new mailbox stores on the2007 box, I receive the following error being logged in the event viewer: Exceeded the max number of 5 MDBs on this server. The event ID is 9591. However, the limit of 5 stores only applies to the standard edition of exchange 2007. Does anyone know why this issue is occurring on an enterprise edition box, and how this can be resolved? Thanks, Chris

How many storage groups have you created? A single storage group can only support 5 databases.

There are 4 SGs. One SG contains 3 mailbox stores, another with 1, and one more with 1.

Have you double checked, just for confirmation, that the install was done with Enterprise media? In the console, if you go to Server Configuration - Mailbox - select the new server and click Properties, then it should have the edition listed.... Please verify and post back.

Ok, one more question... Have you entered the license key code in for the server?

Yes, this was done just after the server build.

I was able to resolve this issue.Checking in both the GUI and management shell showed to be licensed as Exchange 2007 Enterprise, but for some reason the 5 store limit, as in standard edition, was being imposed. To fix, I re-entered the license key using the below command:set-exchangeserver -identity <Server_Name> -productkey <key>There was a warning the server was already licensed, followed by a message of acceptance and validation of the key. After stopping and restarting the Information Store service, I am now able to add and mount additional stores. Thanks. Chris
