We currently use Windows 2003 Server Standard, with Exchange 2003 Enterprise. I want to install Exchange 2007 Enterprise on Windows 2008 Standard server. Is there an issue with this? Can anyone point me in the direction of some documentation that could help my deployment? This will be a fresh install on a new server, but I want to replace the older server with the new one. Can an Exchange server be renamed?PDC

You can install Exchange 2007 on Server 2008 as long as you are using Exchange 2007 SP1. Exchange Server 2000/2003 is highly integrated into AD, if the name has been renamed, it may cause unexpected result. For example, Exchange Information Store service cannot be started after renaming since the attributes of a lot objects in AD will use the name of the Exchange 2003 server; the second, Exchange Server will not identify this Exchange workstation after renaming so that mail flow will not work properly
