Exchange 2007 Defrag
I just completed a mass move of mailboxes to a new store to defrag the database. Is there a compelling reason why I need to move the mailboxes back? Can't I just delete the original mailbox store and keep the new one? And if I delete the original store, what happens to the transaction logs?

No, you don't need to move the mailboxes back. Yes, you can just delete the original mailbox store. If you're so inclined, you may want to backup the store before you delete it just in case there's an oddball occurrance and you need to do a restore of someone's dumpster or something else silly like that. If you backup the store, that'll flush the transaction logs. If you delete the original store, the transaction logs just sit there. Missy

Is there an easy way to identify which log files go with which database if I have multiple dbs in the same storage group?

All databases within a storage group share a single transaction log stream, which means that there aren't specific logs for each database, they're grouped together. Just do a full online backup prior to deleting the (now empty) information store; that'll clear the logs. Missy
