Exchange 2007 Contacts and Rules maximum Size
Hi guys, Can someone remind me what the default max size is on Exchange 2007 for Contacts and Rules (I believe I am right in saying that these 2 services are accumulated together when calculating this MAX size?). I think the default size is 512kb? In which case, a user who has reported not being able to add to her Junk Email ruleset is probably affected by this because she has 15500 contact entries which amount to 12MB in size!! I suspect her mailbox has been compromised because she surely would have had alerts ealrier once she reached the 512 limit. Tom

Hi, A new feature that comes with Exchange Server 2007 is the possibility of changing the size of rule quotas. By default, the value is 64KB but we can upgrade it to 256KB per user. another interesting point is that this value is applicable only to valid rules; all of the rules that are disabled do not count in the RulesQuota value. To change the RulesQuota value in Exchange Server 2007, we can use this cmdlet in the Exchange Management Shell: Set-Mailbox <user> -RulesQuota:256KBAnil

Rules default to 64K and can be changed via the RulesQuota switch http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123981(EXCHG.80).aspx Safe Safe Contacts/Sender/Blocked List is set to 512kb max and can be increased on the server: Registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem Value: Max Extended Rule Size Type: DWORD Data: maximum size, in bytes, you want to allow for the junk e-mail rule However, I would argue that adding any contacts to the blocked sender list is a waste of time.
