Exchange 2007 CAS- 404 Error when logging in with user on Exchange 2000
Hi. We have recently installed Exchange 2007 SP1 onto a Windows 2008 server, the server has the CAS and Hub transport role. We have also installed a 2-node mailbox server cluster. Users who live on the 2007 mailbox servers can access OWA without problems by going to https://servername/exchange (and OWA) however users who's mailboxes still live on our Exchange 2000 cluster get the following error; <fieldset> 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. </fieldset> No web site is configured at this address. I have re-created all the virtual directory's using the New-OwaVirtualDirectory cmdlet but this has not helped, there is nothing in the event log to indicate any problem and I have even turned the OWA logging onto Expert but still nothing appears in the logs apart from Event ID 1000 from source EXPROX which just tells me that that the description for this event can not be found I've looked at a lot of Technet articles and forum posts which indicate that re-creating the Virtual directories will resolve the problem but unfortunatley in this case it has not. Is there anywhere else I can look to see what is causing it? I do not want to have to re-install the CAS server.. Thanks in advance. Brian

Hi. Thanks for your response. However we do not have the mbx role on the same server as you did? I did find some articles relating to that issue. We cannot disable require SSL on the box because we want SSL for Outlook Web Access Thanks Brian.

Hi, Based on my research, I suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Remove Host Headers on Exchange 2000 Server. a. Start Exchange System Manager. b. Expand Servers, expand the appropriate server name, expand Protocols, and then expand HTTP. Note: You may have to expand the virtual server to obtain this option. c. Right-click Exchange Virtual Server, and then click Properties. d. Click Advanced button that is located to the right of the IP Address list, and then click Add button. e. Clear the Host name and click OK. 2. Reset IIS on the CAS server. To do this, type iisreset, and then press ENTER. After that, please login on the Exchange 2000 mailbox via OWA to check the result. If the issue persists, please collect IIS Log file for research. a. On Exchange Serves, open IIS MMC, right click Default Web Site and then click Properties. b. Click Website tab and then check Enable logging. c. Stop the Default Website and RENAME the existing IIS log files under C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1. d. Restart the Default Website and reproduce the problem, which will generate new IIS log file with the exact error. e. Wait for a while so that IIS Log can be synced. And then go to the following folder on Exchange Server: C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1. f. Upload the log to Skydrive (www.skydrive.live.com) and share the link to me for research. Thanks.
