Exchange 2007 : Prepare schema failed with setup.com
Hi, I try to add an exchange server in my domain. I have two DC with Windows 2003 X86 Server SP1 (GC is on the two servers). The exchange server is a Windows 2003 server X64 with SP2. It is a member of the windows domain. Before to install,i tried toprepare domain to receive an organizationExchange server 2007. When i launched setup.com with switch /PrepareSchema i can see this error : Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check Organization Checks ......................... FAILED Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory:Could not find any Global Catalog in forest hefgrp.dom. And, i tried to launched again with these switch /PrepareSchema and /domaincontroller DNS resolution is good. Try to test something with NSLOOKUP is OK. The NLTEST result is OK Nothing is loggeg in the event viewer. All the Windows server are in french langage except the Exchange server. It's a stratus server with only english language Anybody have an idea ? Thank you. regards Ludovic

Hi Ludovic, Suggest you to run Exchange Best Practice Analyzer before installation in Exchange 2007 readiness check to find your org is ready for it... Also verify setup log for any error

Hi, In each ActiveDirectory site where you plan to install Exchange2007, you must have at least one domain controller that is also a global catalog server and is running WindowsServer2003 SP1 or a later version. In these environments, Exchange2007effectively ignores read-only domain controllers and read-only global catalog servers. More information share with you: Exchange 2007 System Requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(EXCHG.80).aspx If you plan to use OutlookWebAccess in your organization and DC in non-English language then you must install the hotfix that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 919166, The address book function in Exchange 2007 is broken when an Exchange OWA client and a Windows Server 2003-based domain controller do not have the same locale setting. Hope it helps. Xiu

I had this problem (error code) as well. I followed the link to the google group post but I can't post there. I encountered this problem on a virtual machine for school. I read the post about calendering at the bottom and figured if that WAS the problem I would try this: --> Disabled antivirus software on the host machine. (I'm sure disabling antivirus on the server would have the same effect) --> Deleted exchanges installation files. --> Re-extracted the Exchange files. --> Ran the setup/PrepareSchema command again. It worked! This had the effect of NOT having the installation files scanned by anti-virus, thus avoiding the calendaring problem explained in the link a couple of posts above. PS I modified the registry to allow editing of the Schema and that did NOT solve my problem. The Google groups post link above appears to be correct about the error code.
