Exchange 2007 3rd party app failures to send /relay email notifications (APC, DPM 2007)...
Running into a few issues.. I can use one program like this just fine (no authentication needed) ; IE: Smartsynch pro's email notifier works great with our existing Exchange 2007 settings.. But the web console interface of the network management card from APC.. results in failure sending test email when I do the test email option, either using IP, FQDN or otherwise.. there is no option here to put in credentials either. Also.. in DPM 2007.. if i try the same set of options for the SMTP portion of Actions options and do the test ... i get an error (either if using authentication/creds or not): "An authentication error occurred when trying to connect to the SMTP server (ID: 518)You typed an incorrect user name, password, or SMTP server name. Type the correct user name...." Any thoughts ? Thanks

Here is what i want: Local ip's can relay off the server without authentications.. outside domains cant use our domain as a relay.. standard stuff i'm guessing.. We have 2007 only in our domain/site now (no 2003 servers): Here is the way i have things configured so far: Client connector: Network: Use these ips to receive: (all available) port 587 Rcv mail from remote servers with theseips: 0000-255.255 etc Authentication: TLS checked Basic Checked Offer basic checked Integrated checked Permission groups: Anonymous checked Exchange users checked Exchange servers checked legacy exchange servers checked ---------- For the Default connector: network: Use these local ips to receive: all available port 25 Recv mail from remote: 0000-255 etc again Authentication: Tls checked Basic checked offer basic checked exchange server authentication checked integrated checked Perm. Groups Anonymous checked Exchange users checked Exchange servers checked Legacy checked Any thoughts on these settings? My biggest fear is outsiders spamming us by using us as a relay.. i thought i had it configured to prevent this, but now i'm not sure (we also get the occassional exchange undeliverable email message which looks like a spammer trying to send through us).. I've also not run that commandlet: Get-ReceiveConnector "CRM Application" | Add-ADPermission -User "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" -ExtendedRights "ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient" Thus far.. Thanks
