Exchange 2007 - Office 2003/2010 Free/Busy Time
We are running exchange 2007.
We have been running office 2003 with no issues.
Since upgrading to Office 2007 and now 2010 we can not see any Free/Busy time or set out of office (works in OWA).
I have limited exchange knowledge but reading through the forums it appears that we do not have a replica of the schedule+ free busy folder.
I have tried to create this using the
Set-PublicFolder –Identity “\NON_IPM_SUBTREE\SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY\EX:/o=Companyname/ou=First Administrative Group”
–Replicas “servername\Public Folder Database”
command in the Exchange Management Shell but it just
returns an error
There is no existing PublicFolder that matches the following identity: "\NON_IPM_SUBTREE\SCHEDULE+
FREEBUSY\EX:/o=Companyname/ou=First Administrative Group " Please make sure that you specified the correct Public Folder identity and that you have the necessary permissions to view PublicFolder.
If I look in the Public Folder Mgt Console under System public Folders, Schedule+FreeBusy
I can only see ex:/o=CompanyName/ou= Exchange Administrative Group
Please can anyone help as this is holding up our Office 2010 roll out
Thanks

Outlook 2010 doesn't use the public folders for the free/busy information - it uses the availability service.
Does autodiscover work correctly?
Was this is a migration from Exchange 2003?
If you look at that public folder that you have identified, does it have a replica specified?

Hi Simon,
If I test Autodiscover the results are "Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings"
This was a migration from 2003
The Exchange Administrative Group does have a replica {Public Folder Database}
Thanks

If autodiscover doesn't work, then that would also be why other things that are connected to it do not work.
I presume you are configuring Outlook manually for new Outlook profiles?
Do you have a commercial SSL certificate on the server, or the self signed one?
Query get-clientaccessserver for the value of AutodiscoverClientServiceInternalUri and ensure that it is correct and resolves correctly from the clients to the Exchange server.

Hi,
Please run Test E-mail AutoConfirguation
==============
a. Open Outlook, on the windows notification area, right click outlook icon and choose "Test E-mail AutoConfirguation"
b. Uncheck the options "Use Guessmart" and "Secure Guessmart Authentication". Click test.
c. In Log tab, if outlook always fails to connect to autodiscover URL. Please move to the steps 3.
d. If you are successfully connect to the Autodiscover service. Please click the Result tab and check the "Availability URL" such as
https://cas.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx. Then manually access this link by IE. Can you open the xml file after entering your credential?
Step 3: Modify the audodiscover URL
=========================
If you fails to connect to autodiscover URL, please try the following steps:
a. Open EMS, type:
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity "YourCASserver" -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri
https://cas01/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Note: Please use the NetBIOS name of your CAS server instead of “cas01”
b. Test the auto-configuration once again.
Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT

Hi Gen,
Thanks for the response
I ran Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity "YourCASserver" -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri https://cas01/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and
tested the autoconfiguration.
This time it was successful.
But I still can't not access OOF or Free/busy time.
I manually tried accessing the https://cas.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx.
(with my domain details)
It requested login details and then came up with page can not be displayed.
Does it need time to replicated down or anything?
Thanks for the help

In order for F&B to work on your Ex2010 server, you need to configure the availability service. This is not done automatically in the setup process. See if this TechNet article (also in the Ex2010 help files) helps.

You are mistaken there.
The availability service is present and working straight out of the box. It does not require any further configuration unless you want to change something from the default configuration.

Hi Sembee,
Query get-clientaccessserver for the value of AutodiscoverClientServiceInternalUri and ensure that it is correct and resolves correctly
from the clients to the Exchange server.
I have run this command but am unsure how to check that it is correct and that it resolves correctly from the clients to the exchange
server. Please advise
(Get-ClientAccessServer |
Select Name, *Internal* | fl)
There are currently 2 certificates on our exchange server.
One which is issues by the server - that has expired (!) and one commercial one which is still valid
Just to confirm the autodiscover is now working.
Free/busy time is not available
Can not set Out of Office
Can not download the offline address book
OWA works fine
Many Thanks

I managed to resolve this by deleting and recreating the EWS folder
