Exchange 2007 & Outlook 2003 (server-side) rules
I'm just about ready to give up on setting up an Exchange 07/Outlook 03 server-side rule (have server reply using a specific message), when someone sends an e-mail to a distribution group. I thought I would post here as a last resort to see if anyone has gotten it to work. Under the Exchange 2007 Console I've already turned on: Allow Automatic Replies under Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Remote Domains (Properties) In Outlook I've set the rule to "have the server reply using a specific message" when an e-mail is sent to a specific distribution group. But of course, it doesn't work. In Exchange 2003/2000, Microsoft's solution was to enable out-of-office replies in the Domain User and Computers Snap-in, and in the Exchange tab of the Distribution Group's properties. Now that Exchange 2007 is different (only using the Console and Shell), that option is not available anymore. So has anybody successfully gotten this feature to work?

In 2007, the Send out-of-office messages to originator check box is under the Exchange Advanced Tab. Did you check that and test?Article that probably still applies:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325469Automatic replies from distribution group do not work in Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange 2000 ServerNote that Allow Automatic Replies under Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Remote Domains (Properties) is not relevant except for messages that leave the Exchange Org.

I actually did check, but with Server 2008 and Exchange 2007, the Exchange Tabs are no longer there. I believe anything done through Exchange 2007 now, has to be configured with the Exchange Management Console or Exchange Management Shell. With Exchange 2003, there were Exchange Advanced tabs though.

Correct. That setting is changed via EMC or powershell http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124955.aspx Set-DistributionGroup The SendOofMessageToOriginatorEnabled parameter specifies whether to allow out-of-office messages to be delivered to the senders of e-mail messages sent to this distribution group. Valid values are $true or $false. The default value is $false.

Thank you very much! I could not find the solution anywhere previously, so thank you! I appreciate it.
