Exchange 2007: Read receipts: including header information of the original email/message
How do you configure Exchange Server 2007 to include in read receipts the header information of the original email that is the subject of the read receipt? The help desk in my organization said that it is not supported in Exchange 2007. I am just a bit incredulous that Microsoft would eliminate the option for administrators to have read receipts include the header information. It was a feature that was supported in our prior version of Exchange, which I understand was 2003. The read receipts were more useful then. Can someone confirm whether the option is configurable; and if so what are the steps to enable it?

What is the value of header information in a read receipt? I dont recall the differences between Exchange 2003 and 2007 as far as RRs go.

The value of header information in the read receipt: many emails are part of a conversation or thread involving numerous participants. Upon receiving a read receipt indicating that a recipient has read a message, without the header information there is no way to discern which message of the conversation was actually read. The message read by the recipient could be from the most recent one to the first message in the thread.

Ok, well I would argue that a read receipt is nothing but a nuisance with little value- especially since clients can disable the sending of a read receipt for all messages or those you choose. In the old days, there was a product that called WatchYourBack that would purposely send mutliple read receipts or none just to irritate the sender. :) Sorry, I'm straying, but my point is that if you are using read receipts as a tool to verify that someone has read a message, what do you do when they have set their client not to generate them at all?
