Exchange 2007: Change DSN sender from Microsoft Exchange
Since Updating to Exchange 2007, our NDRs are coming from "Microsoft Exchange". We have been requested to modify this so that they arrive from
postmaster@company.com. Is this doable?

Sounds like the postmaster account has not been configured on the 2007 server. Once you have this address configured and attached to a mailbox, you can change the display as you wish. This link should help you getting it set up:

A similar item is at
http://www.howexchangeworks.com/2009/09/configuring-external-postmaster-address.html But it says on
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124238(EXCHG.80).aspx that this is just for exteranl DSN. Currently we have no ExternalPostmassterAddress, but we really
want to modify this for internal users:
We will probably turn off Exteranl NDRs; would like internal users to see a from address of our organization.

If we run
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/b1f47263-0545-492a-affe-4e7faa591aaf and Modify Microsoft Exchange with ADSI edit, will we cause havok & release the lesser hounds of confusion, yelling & finger
pointing?

ADSI Edit: under: CNServices, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN= YourRootDomain, CN=Transport Settings, open the properties of the "MicrosoftExchange238e...." object, change the display Name field to match the one you want.
