Exchange 2007/Outlook profile locations
I have been told that the other calendar list in outlook is stored locally on the pc that outlook is installed on. However I can open outlook on my pc and open outlook on my laptop, make changes to the others calendar list on the pc and have it update automatically on the laptop. That tells me that the settings for the calendar list are stored on the exchange server. Can anyone tell me where to find the info about what (in particular the others calendar list) is stored on the exchange server and what is store in the local outlook profile.

I agree with John.Local outlook profile is also called *.ost file. An Offline Folder File(.ost) is used to keep a local copy of your Exchange Server mailbox on your computer. The items in your .ost file are synchronized with the server when a connection is available. For details and client , you can ask a question in Office forum for detailshttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/office2007deploymentcompatibility/threadsFrank Wang

The time that is required to complete the initial synchronization between Outlook and Exchange Server depends primarily on the size of the mailbox and on the speed of the connection to the Exchange Server computer. Access to all data is not available until the initial synchronization is complete. Therefore, we recommend that you use a fast connection when you start Cached Exchange Mode for the first time. After the initial synchronization is complete, Outlook keeps the local copy up to date automatically. If a change is made to the data on the server, Outlook is notified to synchronize the changes. Changes on the server may occur if a new message was received, or if another client made a change to existing data. If changes are made to the local data, Outlook synchronizes those changes with the server automatically. This process occurs in real time and does not require user intervention.
