Exchange 2007--POP3/IMAP Issue
Dear All, We are trying to get the solution regarding POP3/IMAP services. In our company we have installed one exchange server 2007 and installed all three roles(CAS+MBX+HT) in one server. We have generated the SAN cert for, OWA,Autodiscover etc but not mention POP/IMAP in SAN. Now our few users are using POP3/IMAP services too and getting cert error. We are not in position to buy new SAN now. We havent any internal root CA, and lots of users are working on workgroup machines. What is the best way to solve this issue with minimum human efforts. Please suggest ASAP. Rgds, Manjeet Singh

Enable the certificate you have for the POP and IMAP services. Tell users to connect to owa.company.com for POP and IMAP (or autodiscover, but that's longer to type).Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Thanks for reply, you means generate new cert for POP and IMAP services but where I authorized this, I havent any internal root CA. NO. Ed suggests that you should use the same certificate for IMAP & POP as you do for the other services (read IIS) and I also think that is the best solution for you. Martina Miskovic

Hi, How to assign services to a certificate was covered in one of the links above. It's just a matter of running: Enable-exchangecertificate -thumbprint D75305BEF8175570EB6E03BA6FF4372D05ACE39F4 -services IMAP,POP ..in other words, the same way as you assigned IIS to your SAN Certificate. No difference. It's not done in IIS. Martina Miskovic

The Exchange Management Console's Certificate Wizard is really nice, too, one of the few places I prefer over PowerShell.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
