Exchange 2003 replacement issues
Okay, so here is my delimma...The client I am working with has Server 2003 running on an OOOOLD dell box. I can't connect to the domain with the new HP server. I need to be able to take their old database(priv and pub)off the old server and mount it to the new exchange server on the new box. So far I'm getting a lot of c1041724 errors. This is a not-for-profit organization with only 1 standalone server and without a budget to go out buying fancy software. I need to be able to physically do this without spending money!!!I had to demote the original server so I could replace it with the same server name/domain name/ip address.I've gone down the NTBACKUP restore route. I can't do exmerge b/c I can't get them on the same domain. I'm really at a loss here and any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys/gals!Here are the messages I'm getting:Exchange System ManagerAn internal processing error has occured. Source: MSExchangeIS Event ID: 1088 The information store could not be loaded because the distinguished name (DN) /O=FIRST ORGANIZATION/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN= of message database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)" does not match the DN of directory /O=SERVER/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=. The database may have been restored to a computer that is in an organization or site different than the original database. See the above event it clearly says that you have not installed the exchange with original settings such as Org name and Administrative Group etc. You need to uninstall exchange and install exchange with /disasterrecovery switch. so that exchange can retrieve all the original settings from AD follow hthe below articles step by step How to Move Exchange Server 2003 to New Hardware and Keep the Same Server Name http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997176%28EXCHG.65%29.aspx Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
