Exchange 2003 not creating new user mailbox
Hi guys, I'm having some trouble with exchange 2003. Scenario es this: Previously, we had onle 1 server which was the AD DC + exchange 2003 server.... we gont 2 new severs, so we destributed services like this: Server1: is the main server with de 5 roles (then it will be reformated and installed as a secondary AD server), Server2: is a new server prepared to host the AD, Server3: is exchange 2003 member server I migrated exchange server from the original Server1 to the new member Server3 i moved existing mailboxes and all following the steps here: http://www.amset.info/exchange/migration.asp After this, I migrated AD to the Server2, moving 5 roles and everything work just fine between user authentication to the new AD server (Server2), Exchange server (Server3) and AD Server (Server2), and finally between outlook clients connecting to exchange 2003 and the AD accounts. After this migration to new Server3, this new exchange 2003 worked just fine, we have incoming and outgoing mail running OK with existing accounts... Here's when the problem comes. When I create a new user using the AD tool on the exchange server (Server3) it creates the new account and also shows the mailbox creation dialog with the checkbox and the selected mailserver (Server3), process goes OK and it creates the account. When you log in the new user on a windows PC, user authenticates just fine...but the problem comes when looking for the mail on the System Administration tool of the exchange server...when going to Servers---Server3--First storage group---mailbox storage---mailboxes the mailbox for the new user isn't created nor login session registered on Servers---Server3--First storage group---mailbox storage---Login session, it doesnt show any login for the new user. So i tried sending a mail to the new recipient, but it responds that the account hasnt been found. Then i tried to start session using OWA but it does not login because of the user mailbox not existing. When i go to NewUser properties, on Exchange Advanced options tab, then clic on mailbox permissions there's only listed the "SELF" user/group names but the previously existing users have listed Administrator, Organization Administrators, Domain admins., anonymous logon, Exchange domain servers (Server3), Server3$, SELF and All user/groups listed. When comparing the information in the Exchange options(characteristics) tab, for existing and newUser account, i have listed: Outlook mobile access enabled User started sinchronization enabled Update notifications enabled Protocols: Outlook web access enabled/using default protocol values POP3 enabled/using default protocol values IMAP4 enabled/using default protocol values But even with this, outlook cannot find the account mailbox on the server saying that "it could not be found" So, I deleted the account and recreated it and the user/group listings came OK. But when looking in the "e-mail" address tab, and there's no SMTP or X400 protocol listings...So i have to add them manually... Then OWA let me start session on this mailbox account, yet no success on the outlook client. Does anybody knows why this happened, and how to correct this that can help me? Thanks in advance, luiguiv

As you said, you distributed exchange and DC from the old box to two new boxes. Can you tell us what was the steps that you have performed? Can you just check if the replucation is proper is fine? Run Exbpa on exchange to look for any issues? Run DCDIAG and NETDIAG to check for issues?GO to adsiedit and drill down to configuration container and check if you can see exchange org name and all the other components of the exchange?Raj

Hi,After successful User Account and Mailbox creation, you will notice that the new account has no e-mail address and no Exchange information appears in the dialog box. This is normal. There is a process called Recipient Update Service which is responsiblefor updating the Exchange information in Active Directory. You have to wait a few minutes or manually push the Recipient Update Service (RUS). So please try to manually update the Recipient Update Service (RUS) and then check the issue again. Besides, please follow Rajnishs suggestion to check the health of DCs. Mailbox Management http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Mailbox-Management.htmlRegards,Xiu
