Exchange 2003 new user; Exchange server unavailable.
I recently was running out of space for the user profiles/folders on the smaller HD so I used Xcopy in dos to move all user profiles to a new bigger hd (according to a Microsoft article that I used and will serch for again and post it here). Now, when I add a new user on 2k3 sbs server (with all updates), then I try to add them to Outlook 2k3 and it says, cannot find the exchanger server, or exchange server is unavailable. It will not put a line under the new user accounts name. All other user accounts work and there is no problems sending and recieving email. But now this company has a few new employees and need more users. They have 30 user licenses and only use 20 of them. I left the exchange folder on the original drive and havent attempted to move that to the new bigger drive yet. Why would all of the existing user accounts find the exchange server in outlook but new users cannot????

take a few deep breaths then have a look at this article:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297801also maybe i'm just not understanding, but: you are using roaming profiles? dont use xcopy to move exchange databses. you can do this from within esm, under the mailbox store (and maybe storage group) objects the old outlook profiles dont need to look their name up in the address book the same way new ones do. the above mentioned article might help. if not, please reply with more details

1. Roaming profiles, yes. 2. I also changed the Log files, Priv/Pub and Data Store move with the mail box store/Profiles Store in ESM. 3. Used ldp.exe and from MS Article and get this error on the 2 new user accounts that I created: ld = cldap_open("wtdom/move/uswwtitle", 389);Error <0x51>: Fail to connect to wtdom/move/uswwtitle. I also tried to connect with a working user account and got the same error. All of the other users work without any problems just like you mentioned. This happened after I used this Microsoft Article to move the data folders/exchange folders/logs. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sbs/2003/maintain/movedata.mspx - I tried removing and recreating the user accounts along with a test account and still no luck. - Existing users still work without a problem unless I try to login from another workstations, then it will say that the exchange server is unavailable again (within seconds), then Data store could not be opened. Cannot open default mail folders... - I can connect to the internet, ping and map to all 5 servers, ping workstations/printers/copiers/routers/PIX everything.. - The existing user accounts only seem to work on the workstations that they worked on before. - New users names show in GAL (Global Access List). - Removed then re-installed Mail boxes in Active Directory Users and Computers. - I can send Email to the new users.... This is driving me nutzzZ. Thanks for the help.
