Exchange 2003 moved to new server but have problems
Hi there, I have just moved the exchange to a new domain controller, as the old one was old hardware and was not doing the job anymore, all roles and everything has been transferred to the new server, all the logins and everything is fine, all the outlook clients are also automatically pointing to the new server, and i have set all settings correct under the system management of exchange to point all mailboxes/public folders/connectors etc... to new server. However if I shut down the old server then the exchange goes down, it seems the old exchange is still doing the administration of mail for some reason, any ideas where i should start looking? If I shut it down the outlook clients gives a message "the exchange server is no longer available" Should I remove the old server from the systems manager so only 1 exchange server is visible? the new one is the "Master" and the old one is a "Member"

Hi, Did you also create replicas of all public folders (including system folders) and set the new server as the default public folder store? Leif

Hello, Also, make sure your ports 80,443,25 are forwarded to the new server. have you created a new user profile on outlook and manuallly added the new server settings? Does it work like that? https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ Miguel Fra | Falcon IT Services, Miami, FL www.falconitservices.com | www.falconits.com | Blog

If you mean when you shut down the old Exchange Server, the mail flow for new server will down, I suggest you go to check your mail flow setting, make sure the records have changed to your new server.
