Exchange 2003 mailboxes are getting moved
Hi In exchange 2003 mailbox move : If the Mailbox move fails, the mailbox is still residing at the original location .So, if the corruption or other errors occur during the migration .It will leave the old mailbox intact .Only if the move succeeds that the original mailbox is removed from the source mailbox. please confirm And what are the different mailbox scenarios , in which the mailbox move fails but there are ways to recover the mailboxes Can the .edb and .stm files get corrupt at the time of move what are the risk involved at the time of moving the mailboxes and what are the different backup scenarios

You can try moving the mailbox to another E2K3 database. That usually fixes any problems -- if the move is successful. If the move fails you can run "isinteg" on the database. If the move continues to fail you can export the mailbox to a PST and then import it into the target database. >Can the .edb and .stm files get corrupt at the time of move Sure, just the same as they can during any operation -- sending mail deleting mail, receiving mail, etc. >what are the risk involved at the time of moving the mailboxes The most common problem is not haveing a sufficient amount for space on the target server to accomodate the volume of mail that's being loaded into the database. >and what are the different backup scenarios That's a complicated question because you're asking about both Exchange and the Active Directory. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
