Exchange 2003 mailbox creation
I am having an issue where it takes a very long time for a new mailbox to appear in exchange system manager and the GAL. Sometimes a reboot of the exchange server will resolve the issue, but lately it hasn't. I am currently running a rebuild on the recipient update service (domain) to see if that will correct the problem but that could take a couple of hours before I know it didnt work. I have an exchange 2003 server and Windows 2000 domain. I haven't found anything in the application log stating that there is an error creating mailboxes and I have more than enough space in the exchange store to create additional mailboxes. Victor

The Recipient Update Service takes care of that. It talks to one specific domain controller, and then the settings have to replicate. You should check the settings of the RUS.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". It's also not clear how many domain controllers there are and how healthy the AD is.

Hi, Please understand that the mailbox for the new users do not initialize until a piece of mail is send to the user. If that's not the cause, you should take care the AD issue. Thanks Allen
