Exchange 2003 mail delete issue.
I am running Exchange 2003 sp2 on fully patched 2003 servers. After a migration, I have the following issue, on a handful of user accounts. The user can not delete or move any email. In Outlook you get the statement that "the item could not be deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied." This is the case in OWA as well. Note: I can get the same result if I am logged in as that user and send a message to the same account. I can open that message, but can not delete or move it. I have reset the users Exchange permissions within AD. As well as added another user with full mailbox rights... same result. Thanks. Additional info: I can, logged in as end user, open Outlook and delete or move Sent Items and Permanetly Delete items from the Deleted Item folder. I just can not move or delete anything from the Inbox. Thanks.

sounds like some sort of mailbox corruptions / mangled permission attributes as a result of the migration of those users mailboxes. Since this only effects a few users my work around would be to export their mailboxes to PST (using eitherOutlook or Exmerge) then delete & recreate the mailbox and finally import all the data back into it (again using either Outlook or Exmerge) This work around should solve the problem and will cause the least amount of impact on the availability of Exchange on the Network. Alternatively, you could use eseutil & isintegto check the databases on which the mailboxes reside for consistancy, defragment the databases and / or repair them if necessary. This process, hoever, will require the information stores to be dismounted and as a result interruption in Exchange Services to the network. (also requires free disk space equal to approx. 110% the size of the Database you are working on)
