Exchange 2003 have problems with SMTP and Windows 2008 FSRM?
Hi, i'm having some issues and it appears to be exchange related, so i was hoping someone could fill me in as to what it could be. I've setup a Windows 2008 server and have File Server Resource Manager on it with the plan for it to send me an alert when someone goes over their quota, etc. When i tell it to use our Exchange server to send the email, it hangs for 10 minutes before actually working. It doesn't error out, it's like it just tries and tries and eventually hits some sort of timeout that allows it to go, then i get an email and a "success" on the server. But, when i set it to use another smtp server (in a sister corporation) that isn't Exchange, it works instantly. So it appears something on the Exchange server either isn't compatible with 2008, or is turned off/on and needs adjusted. Any suggestions as to how i could address this? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Enable SMTP logging on the exchange server and see if that helps. Leif

Logging is currently enabled, but i'm not seeing anything in there jumping out at me...is there something specific i should be looking for? I've searched through it for the server name from where the email is originating as well as my address it's sending to....thanks.

Hi, You mentioned the mails stuck in the queue for about 10 minutes. Please let us know the queues name in which emails stuck and "Additional Queue Information" of those queues. How about other emails? Only mails sent by FSRM have this issue?
