Exchange 2003 backups failing..bad priv1.stm
Backup failing for this mailbox store. Backup Exec specifies the .stm is corrupt. Event Log shows the following 2 errors:Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: ESEEvent Category: Logging/Recovery Event ID: 478Date: 2/16/2010Time: 7:59:05 PMUser: N/AComputer: mailserverDescription:Information Store (11996) The streaming page read from the file "F:\EXCHSRVR\MDBDATA\New Store\priv1.stm" at offset 23176032256 (0x0000000565663000) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes failed verification due to a page checksum mismatch. The expected checksum was 2894182644 (0x00000000ac81b8f4) and the actual checksum was 2745796483 (0x00000000a3a98783). The read operation will fail with error -613 (0xfffffd9b). If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. Last good backup is from 1/28. My thoughts are either 1. Dump the .stm and create a new one but not sure if that is the best idea.OR2. Create a new storage group and mailbox store. Migrate users to this new store.Please pass along any advice or suggestions. THanks!!MCP MCSE 2003

Just wanted to follow up. This approach worked great. I took a week+ to do the mailbox moves in stages but this got the job done. Now getting good backups! Thanks for the advice!!MCP MCSE 2003
