Exchange 2003 and 2008-R2 Domain
I have an Exchange SP2 server in a 2003-R2 domain. I would like to upgrade our domain services to a 2008-R2. I read that Exchange 2003 is compatible with a 2008-R2 domain. Is it true that I can continue to create mailboxes using the exchange server that runs the active directory tool for exchange? Can I raise our domain functional level to 2008-R2 native mode? Our mail server is not a domain controller.

Hi, Exchange server 2003 SP2 is supported in a Windows Server 2008 R2 forest functional level domain - see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623.aspx This means that you can still create mailboxes using ADUC on the exchange server Leif

Thanks Leif, We will be migrating to Exchange 2010, but not before the domain upgrade. This confirmation helps.
