Exchange 2003 and 2007 header with special characters behavior
Hi!It surprises me that the technet search engine doesn't find any solutions to the following situation (googling around only tries to confirm the problem as MS design bug):Exchange Server 2003 and 2007 Std EN, tested onWindows Server 2003 Std x32-bit; Windows Server 2008 Std x64-bit respectivelyIn both cases when a DisplayName has special characters (accent and dieresis tested) in the mail-header FROM: field is created differently than the usual "Lastname, Firstname" form. Two examples here are:From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?t=F6st=2C_t=E4st? From: =?utf-8?B?U3TQpGhsKZIsIENvcmS=?=As you see we are missing here (at least) the quotation marks as is the case inFrom: "toest, taest"for example. This misbehaviour leads to problems with iMacs and iPods when their users click the "reply" button. The Outlook setting of the mailformat (HTTP, rich text, plain text) didn't have any impact on the header "misspelling".Can anyone confirm this on another exchange server? Is there header configuration file / registryat all? Thanks!
