Exchange 2003 Tracking says messages have been delivered but they are NOT appearing in users Outlook mailbox
Hi All, I have an issue where users are telling me that they are not getting emails that were sent over the weekend to our exchange server.I checked in Exchange Message Tracking and there were messages received at the Exchange Gateway and routed to the users mailbox, however the messages do not appear in the mailbox. I have attempted to research this to no avail and need some urgent ideas on where these message have gone? All users are experiencing this issue and it seems to have started Friday evening and stopped Monday morning. The only thing that happened between these times was that the Exchange Database was moved from E Drive (this drive was experiencing corruption) to F Drive. This was successful and Exchange was working well after the move all of Friday afternoon. The only thing that I did over the weekend was to log in and repair the corrupt E Drive, I backup everything then did a low level format on this Drive (I think this was a mistake as the registry may still been pointing to this drive). After doing this I noticed that the Exchange Stores had dismounted and the database was pointing back to E drive when I had successfully moved them to F drive. So I copied all the Exchange Database files and logs back to E Drive, then performed the Move Database procedure to get them back to F drive, mounted the store and exchange came back online Monday morning at around 9.30am. So somewhere between reformatting E Drive and bringing Exchange back online Monday morning messages that were delivered to the users mailboxes during this time appear to have gone missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.I have all the Exchange EDB files and Logs backed up prior to the formatting of E Drive but Exmerge doesnt help me here. Thanks Lance

Are the users in offline mode in Outlook. Can you see the new messages in OWA?Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Thanks for your reply, the users are online and the messages in OWA are the same as the messages in Outlook so it seems to be an Exchange thing. Just thought I'd add that we are running SBS 2003 SP2 and Outlook has cached mode selected.

UPDATE: This was never resolved and I never worked out what caused it but a work around that may be helpful for others in similar situations was to use a logging utility like Promodag Reports to extract the tracking logs from Exchange so a meaningful list of all messages received by the server could be generated and passed to users to follow up. I did discover that our backup MX records had been configured incorrectly, cant see how this could be related but might help someone.
