Exchange 2003 SP 2 Message routing priority.
I have a client who is complaining that every time their organization sends out a mass E-mail (supposedly sometimes like 14,000k recipients) internal E-mails get delayed for hours or so. While this to me is a natural consequence of sending out huge mass E-mails, they don't see it like that. This and their assertion that this didn't happen before (when that is, I don't know... Also, I am skeptical of this claim).Whatever the claim, I'm looking for a way in server 2003 to get internal E-mails higher processing priority than all the mass E-mails external messages. I get the impression from poking around the web for a solution that Exchange 2007 can address this while 2003 cannot. Am I correct on this issue? Any other tricks or workarounds maybe for this issue? I would greatly appreciate it.~Robert

Hi Robert, How many Exchange server do you have? The best way to improve performance is deploy more Exchange server. We cannot give internal emails a higher priority. Nevertheless, you can optimize your network or information store to get a better performance. For instance: scheduling the time for sending mass emails outbound, creating separate connectors for sending internal and external emails, optimizing storage for Exchange Server. You can refer the following article for more information: Optimizing Storage for Exchange Server 2003 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125079.aspx How to optimize memory usage in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/815372/en-us 10 Tips to Optimize Exchange 2003 Performance http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Optimize-Exchange-2003-Performance-Part1.html http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Art-Science-Sizing-Exchange-2003-Part2.html Hope this helps. Thanks, Elvis
