Exchange 2003 Routing query
Question: HiI have been trying to find the answer to this on the Internet but can't seem to...there was a good article, here but it doesn't mention what I am looking for.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998800(EXCHG.65).aspxLets say I have 4 Exchange 2003 Routing groups...EU, Asia, USA, Africa.A message needs to get from EU to Africa. The cost between EU and Asia is 10.The cost between Asia and Africa is 10.So cost 20 from EU > Asia > AfricaThe cost from EU to Africa direct is 20.So we have two possible paths, each of cost 20.Which one will Exchange 2003 use? Will it randomly pick one - or use the one with the lowest hops (EU > Africa)? If the latter, where in MS documentation does it say this?

Since thecost is the same, there's no need to consider the number of hops -- ifthat was a consideration then you would have taken that intoconsideration and the cost would be greater for the route with morehops. With an equal cost, the message will be delivered to eith of theroute, with the preference for the one with an active connection.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
