Exchange 2003 Retention Policies not deleting emails
I'm having issues with deleting emails. It seems the policy executes and scans the mailboxes but doesn't delete anything like it should! I have it set to delete items 180 days old. The problem is I've gone into mailboxes that have emails from 3 years ago!! So why is it not deleting? I have two receipient policies. Default policy which is a "E-Mail Addresses Property page" which is at priority lowest and a Retention - 180 Days policy that is a "Mailbox Manager Settings Property page". I have set: When processing a mailbox: Delete Immediately The boxes I checked are: Inbox Sent Items Deleted Items System Cleanup All Other Mail Folders Each one is set to 180 Age (days) and ANY (Size KB). I am sending detailed reports to another mailbox that shows all the messages but it never deletes them. Whatt is going on??

Well it appears that it goes off the "Last Date Modified" when calculating the retention date? This will not work for us. If the email was sent in 2008 then that is the date we need to go off of. Is there anyway to get Exchange 2003 to ignore the Modified date and just go off the received date? If not, is there another solution that you may know of?
