Exchange 2003 Question
We have one Exchange 2003 server, and 6 Windows 2003 R2 domain controllers. We had 3 domains in the forest and we removed one of the domains about a month ago. We created new accounts for the users from the old domain into the existing forest/domain. There are only 2 users from the old domain. The 2 users both have the same SMTP email addresses as before. All email from the outside (internet) arrives OK, but internal mail is either bounced or not delivered. I am betting that there is a simple reason/solution for this, but I seem to be unable to find it. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be most extremely grateful! TIA, Flux

Where those two users in a different administrative group? I would bet that it's bouncing because their legacyExchangeDN changed. ( Can you post the exact NDR senders get back?) If so, then you need to add an custom x.500 address to each affected account. The x.500 address has to be the legacyexchangeDN of their old administrative group. To do that, you'll need to get the names of the old legacyExchangeDn. Something like: /o=ExchangeOrg/ou=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/cn=RECIPIENTS/cn=User1 (cn would be their old alias) Then Create a Custom Address, type "X500". and add that string to the AD account. If you post the exact NDR, we'll know for sure if that is the issue.

Thanks guys! I believe I got it fixed - their old mailboxes needed to be purged - I believe it was causing a conflict. Thanks again. Sam
