Exchange 2003 Public folder contact notes losing information
I have an exchange 2003 server that has a public storing customer contacts for our sales department. They keep customer notes in with these contacts. Over the past few days, users have begun to notice that portions of these notes are missing. Some of these contacts contain notes going back to 2000. Now they open up the contact and the most recent notes will only hold up the oldest year or two of notes. All of the most recent entries are gone. I have tried to bring notes back from a backup and they don't appear to be there either. Has anyone every of such a thing. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Clarify: You mean that Notes section in the General tab of those contacts, right? The recent portion of the notes was missing in there. Please correct me if theres any misunderstanding Troubleshooting: 1. Check if theres any 3rd-party Add-ins on client (like Practice Advantage, it may related to the issue) 2. Run Outlook in safe mode, itll disable most of the 3rd-party <Start->Run->outlook /safe>, then modify the Notes Section of those contacts, monitoring in next several days 3. Check if the affected contacts are not default IPM.Contact form, changed to default if they are not. You can use MFCMAPI to check Notes: You also can check if those recent notes still exist, they may show in it a. Run MFCMAPI on a client PC where already have a mail profile->Session menu->choose Logon and Display Store Table->choose profile in jumped window b. Double-click Public Folders to go next window c. Expand the Public Root to that contact folder name->double-click open it->check affected contacts Message Class Column, if its not IPM.Contact, change back d. Go to check PR_BODY,PR_BODY_A Column of the affected contacts, all notes will appear under it 4. Does all contacts have this symptom, if not, you also can use MFCMAPI to cross-check other attributes between the good and the bad, see if theres any differences Notes: it shall always modify Notes Section from mailbox directly, not using mobile device.
