Exchange 2003 Migration to 2010 Installed on Win 2012

Hi!

We need to migrate from Exchange 2003 Installed on Win 2003 to Exchange 2010 which will be installed on windows 2012 Data Center Edition. The Domain Controllers are windows 2008 R2. There is no windows 2003 DC.

Will it be fine to install Exchange 2010 on Windows 2012 Data Center? Secondly, after checking our current Exchange 2003 and Active Directory with DCDIAG and Repadmin, we did not find any problem. What else we can check in our environment for smooth Exchange Migration and what problems we can face during or after migration?

Thanks.

Hi

You can install Exchange 2010 Sp3 on Windows 2012 and it will not cause any issues.

If you are looking for steps to install in Windows 2012 you can follow the below article

http://oxfordsbsguy.com/2013/03/24/how-to-install-exchange-2010-sp3-on-windows-server-2012/

You can follow the below article for readiness check from Exchange 2003 to 2010

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638130(v=exchg.141).aspx

And for your last question its really difficult to answer since the problem arises depending on every environment setup config etc. It would be easier once the migration is completed and see the results.Ensure the readiness check have been done correctly.

Good Luck for your smooth transition from Exchange 2003 to 2010 !!
