Enabled journaling on message store in exchange 2003 ent. cluster about 10 days back. Retention has been turned off, but we see notice message store size have been growing rapidly about 6 gb per day on few and about 2 + gb on some. Any suggestions are welcome Sonal

Yes, If your journal mailbox is on growing Database then it should be archive in journal store instead of sitting in exchage databse. you need to check it journal configuration. Also i would recommend to see event log 1221 which generate right after online maintenance to see if any issue of white spaces in DB.Anil
