Exchange 2003 Installation Error
I have Exchange 2003 Enterprise installed and has been running in my environment for about 4 years. We are going to replace the existing server with new hardware. I have built out the OS, and am hung up on installing Exchange 2003: I'm getting the following error message when I attempt to install Exchange Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise: The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Install" because: - You do not have sufficient permissions in the domain. A Domain Administrator must either re-run "setup /DomainPrep" or create a Recipient Update Service for this domain. I already have Exchange 2003 installed in my environment, so domainprep shouldn't have to be run. I am attempting to install with a user account that is already a domain administrator, as well as a local administrator. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Is the account also an "Exchange Full Administrator"? , Kindly run DomainPerp too, it won't do any harm to you current environment since its main function is to creates the groups and permissions necessary for Exchange servers to read and modify user attributes in Active Directory. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319966 This article resolved my issue. Key fix was this: Manually granting the Exchange Enterprise Server or an account with Full Exchange Administrator rights full control on the Exchange Domain Servers group resolves the behavior temporarily.
