Exchange 2003 Installation Error...
I'm getting the following error message when I attempt to install Exchange Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise: The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Install" because: - You do not have sufficient permissions in the domain. A Domain Administrator must either re-run "setup /DomainPrep" or create a Recipient Update Service for this domain. I already have Exchange 2003 installed in my environment, so domainprep shouldn't have to be run. I am attempting to install with a user account that is already a domain administrator. Everything seems to be correct, but I still get this error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This is not a new site - we already have Exchange 2003 running in the same domain. This new server is going to replace the existing Exchange server. Domainprep shouldn't be necessary as it has already been run for the existing Exchange server? The account I'm using is a local and Exchange administrator.

Did you have a look of below KB's : You do not have sufficient permissions in the Domain" error message occurs and Exchange Setup does not respond:: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319966 As Ripu has suggested please run /DomainPrep and try to install exchage setup.Anil

I have already reviewed that KB. If I run domainprep on an environment that has already had domainprep run on it, a few years ago, will it cause any issues?

Hi, Domainprep should not harm you current environment since its main function is to creates the groups and permissions necessary for Exchange servers to read and modify user attributes in Active Directory. In case some error comes keep us updated on the same. Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Is there any way you can confirm that running domainprep a second time in the same environment will not cause any issues with our current environment? This is a production environment, so obviously I'm very concerned about making any changes that may effect other systems. Thanks!
