Exchange 2003 Enterprise Cluster- Affects/Precautions of re-ip-ing the network?
We're running an Exchange 2003 Enterprise Cluster (2-node, sharing SAN space for our mailbox store). Right now, we're using the typical 192.168.x.x IP scheme. There are plans to change the IP scheme to something else... We're looking for any help/suggestions/precautions so we can get the IP's changed and minimize breaking the server/clusters. Thank you for any help...

If it were my cluster, I'd fight it :-) However, you should be fine keeping your same IP's for the heartbeat, but you'll need to take the whole cluster offline to re-ip the nodes and don't forget to re-ip the cluster and the network name cluster resource!

Hi Knightly, thanks for the response. We have 2 groups in the cluster, 1 for the Cluster Group and 1 for the Share SAN disk/mailstore.So each group has a Network Name that is dependent on their IP Address Resource... So we have to make sure the re-IPing also happens to both Groups (in my case, Cluster Group and DB group)? or just 1 group?Re-IPing of the nodes also includes the physical IP's set to nics too... the physical machine are using x.x.x.23 and x.x.x.24 while the groups in the cluster are using x.x.x.18 and x.x.x.19 <--- so all these have to be re-IPed when we do so, correct?PS: If the above images aren't loading, they are here:http://webpages.charter.net/vfxraven/images/exchange/cluster_admin.jpghttp://webpages.charter.net/vfxraven/images/exchange/cluster_admin1.jpg

I think your right on the money. RE-IP the DB group if any machines access that IP that are not part of the cluster, so I"d re IP it to be safe.
