Exchange 2003 Enterprise - Windows 2003 Sever STD - Adding Exchange Disclaimer (SMTP/MAPI) email
Does MS have a solution for adding a global disclaimer to Exchange 2003 Ent? I have a BE & FE server and would like to add a disclaimer to all outbound messages... I found a MS article discussing the use of a VB Script but it appears to work for smtp email only. Our email users have outlook and I assume the messages are sent in MAPI format? Does MS have a solution for adding a global disclaimer to all outbound emails whether they be SMTP or Outlook (MAPI)?

Not really. You would have to add a disclaimer using an SMTP transport event sink and use multiple virtual smtp servers to make it work internally...obviously a messy solution. I would either use a 3rd party product or upgrade to 2007/2010 and use Transport rules.

Yep - I agree... there is no real good way in Exchange 2003. We use a product called Exclaimer and it is pretty nice. I recommend it. Conversely, if you have McAfee / MX Logic or Google / Postini for email defense, they offer a function that will add disclaimers as well. Obviously, these would only be added to messages that are destined for external recipients.
