Jay,What has prompted you to peform eseutil /d? Are you having database issues currently? Did you run eseutil /G or /P at any point? I assume you have confirmed you have enough disk space necessary to peform the defrag? I also assume you have made backup copies of your databases before performing any maintenance?MVP Exchange Server

Dear Jay, It seems that your mailbox database has problem. Try to run eseutil /d command again and check the effect. If fail again, run the following command to fix it: ISINTEG -S Servername -FIX -TEST ALLTESTS And then rerun eseutil /d to check the effect. If all methods above cant fix the issue, It appears to be some corruption in the database, you can select one of three methods in the following to recovery it: Option 1. Create a new store and move all the mailboxes to new store; Option 2. Mount this database into the recovery storage group and mount blank store in the production and merge the data; Option 3. Exmerge the data and mount blank store and exmerge it back; Related article: How to use Recovery Storage Groups in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=824126 Swapping Databases between the Recovery Storage Group and the Original Storage Group http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997213(EXCHG.65).aspx If anything is unclear, feel free to let me know. Thanks for the response.I have ran the defrag aprox. 5 times, andtwice i have recieved the error message "Operation terminated with error -2101 (JET_errCallbackFailed, A callback failed) after 8249.15 seconds"The other times it does not give me any error messages and stops after at 5% (3 dots) and displays the path location of the eseutil i.e "D:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin>"I have also ran the "ISINTEG -S Servername -FIX -TEST ALLTESTS" until all the fixes were resolved but i still get the same result when we run the defrag.so it seems i mave have use one of the 3 options?Regards,Jay

Hello John,The reason for performing defrag was to resolve peformance issues that we were experiencing (RPC dialog box) so i was advised to perform a defrag.I've not run eseutil /G or /P it's always been /D. We have plenty of disk space. We did backup the database but all recentbackups are the ones whichare with the problems.we are experiencing defrag issues for a month.Do you have any suggestions?Kind regards,Jay

Dear Jay, Based on the conversation, I understand that you have run defrag 5 times, and you received error twice. It seem that some data in your mailbox database has corrupted. You can try the following steps to fix it. Option 1. Create a new store and move all the mailboxes to new store; Option 2. Mount this database into the recovery storage group and mount blank store in the production and merge the data; Option 3. Exmerge the data and mount blank store and exmerge it back; Related article: How to use Recovery Storage Groups in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=824126 Swapping Databases between the Recovery Storage Group and the Original Storage Group http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997213(EXCHG.65).aspx Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge program (Exmerge.exe) information http://support.microsoft.com/kb/174197/en-us If anything is unclear, feel free to let me know.
