Exchange 2003 Cannot Send or Receive From A New Storage Group
Hi Hope somebody can help I have created a new storage group and mailbox storeon my exchange 2003 box and moved a test mailbox into the new store, however when I send test messages to it they dont arrive and they do not arrive when I send them out of the test mailbox. I have enabled message tracking and run the Exchange troubleshooting assistant but it fails to find the test messages I am sending, however I do get NDR reports after 24 hours. When I move the test mailbox back to the original mail store it works fine. Any ideas as to how I can further troubleshoot this would be appreciated. Thanks Karl

You may want to follow this article and verify that you have the correct permissions established on the new mailbox store. Minimum Permissions Required for Mailbox Stores and Public Folder Stores http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996629.aspx

Karl,Would it be possible for you to create a new (test) mailbox storage group, and check if the issue is occurring with that mailbox as well. I need to check if its happening with only one mailbox store or all the new mailbox store? Also download the ExBPA tool and see what the report have to say. It can be downloaded from www.exbpa.com

I have created a new mailbox in the new storage group but the fault is the same, the messages are stuck in the local delivery queue, and are showing as multiple retries, I have tried method 1 from the KB document at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316622 but the fault remains the same. Any suggestions would be greatfully received. Thanks Karl

Hi, What events have been logged in event log? Please improve the Diagnostics logging in ESM. Now I suggest we dismount the new mailbox store, then run Isinteg command to check the integrity of the mailbox store. The detail information you can refer to the below link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301460 Thanks Allen

Hi, Thanks, I did try this and the integrity was fine. I have now resolved this, I was not comfortable making alterations on our live Exchange box, using HPER V System Centre Virtual Machine Manager (currently in Beta only) did a physical to virtual conversion on the exchange box and a dc, set up a virtual client and was able to do a bit more fiddling. We had some legacy 5.5 components (replicator connector) which I removed and then converted exchange from mixed mode to native mode, I then created a new Storage Group and mail store and it now worked fine. Did some testing and transfered the settings into the live environment, all works fine I just love Hyper-v Thanks for all your help guys much appreciated Karl
