Exchange 2003 Adding a front end server
So here is the situation that is occuring. I have one old exchange 2003 server and one new exchange 2003 server. I want to migrate them over. I want to put a front end server in place to allow for connectivity during the mgiration. He is the problem. When I put the front end in place and try to access it via owa I get the forms based authentication but then when we login in it loops back to the forms based authentication again. Any thoughts.Preston Thornhill pthornhill@fusionstorm.com

Do you have FBA enabled on the current server? If so, you need to disable it. Integrated and Basic authentication need to be enabled on the virtual directories. I would actually go as far as resetting the virtual directories on the original server. Once back to the defaults, do not change them. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=883380 Also ensure that the frontend server is fully patched to the same or higher level as the existing servers. That will include service packs and post SP2 updates. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Hi Preston, Any updates on your issue? Please check whether you can login OWA if you are trying to access from the Backend End server. And please check whether you can access https://localhost/exchange on both FE and BE locally. You can also check the IIS logs which are located in folder: C:\WINDOWS\systems\LogFiles\W3SVC1. Did you customize the OWA pages? Please download EXBPA and check whether there are any error messages: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=dbab201f-4bee-4943-ac22-e2ddbd258df3&displaylang=en Frank Wang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
