Exchange 2003 Active Sync
Having some trouble with Active Sync. Twice in 6 weeks I have had to recreate the Exchange Virtual folders. OWA works and the premissions on all of the folders appear to be corrct but we cannot connect ithout deleting and recreating the folders. The first time they worked for 6 weeks before the same thing happened again. I just reinstalled SP2. What could be causing this? After this 2nd recreation I changed the Exchange virtual folder to Windows Integration Authentication in IIS rahter than the System Manager and it reverted back to being off. Could using IIS rather than the System Manager to change this have caused this to revert back? This is not the same problem as that listed above. Thanks for any info/advice.

Exchange will "correct" things on its own in certain circumstances, and due to the integration of Exchange and IIS, you have to be careful with the configuration of the virtual directory properties. The first thing I would do is get the Exchange Best Practises tool which is a free download from Microsoft and run that against the system and ensure it doesn't flag anything. You then need to wait for it to break so you can run a test through the Microsoft test site at http://exrca.com/ which should flag the exact issue. The scenario that you are seeing shouldn't be happening. The only other thing it could be is something else installed on the server that is creating problems. Please also check if the issue happens on the windows mobile emulator, which can be used to check the device log. Please see if there's any related trace in IIS log Windows Mobile 6.1.4 Emulator Images Activesync logging in Exchange 2003 and 2007 Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. It happened again today. This time I found forms based authentication turned on at the top level virtual folder whereas it was not last week and I was able to change the setting in system manager rather than IIS as I had to do today. I will run the best practices analyzer against this. Thanks.
