Not sure where to post this question, so I thought I'd start here.
AD, and Exchange, both predate me, and both are 2003 with latest service packs.
AD = 5 sites (corp, and 4 remote), all connected via VPN.
Exchange = single server located @ corp.
In AD sites and services, corp site has no automatically created intERsite connections between sites. I think (???) that may be caused by an exchange server that is listed in the Servers folder (it contains
MSMQ Settings) and has IP selected in the "This server is a preferred bridgehead server for the following transports:" making AD think it is the Bridgehead for the site, and because it is not a DC, KDC connections can't be created.
Don't know if that is a default that setting, or something set up for a previous migration.
I would think it would be ok to just remove the IP option from the servers properties in AD S&S. Seems like it should be set to SMTP, if anything. Again, it's the only exchange server.
I'm looking to make that change, but don't want to hose up functioning exchange.
What would be the impact of removing IP from the Bridgehead server selection on the exchange 2003 server in AD S&S?
(if this should be in another forum, please let me know where)

The setting is for AD replication, which is not related to exchange product as I know.
Per my knowledge, AD will restore to automatic bridgehead server selection mechanism, if you remove the IP option
“If you have selected one or more bridgehead servers, removing them from the bridgehead servers list restores the automatic selection
functionality to the ISTG”
-------Refer to <Managing
Sites>
Yet, as I’m not an expert on the AD field, please use “Directory
Services” forum which would be the best place for the question

Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it.
Is there a better "Exchange" group to post in? To me my question is more exchagne related than AD, but maybe I worded it wrong.
It should have read more like:
What would be the impact to EXCHANGE (or mail) if I removing IP from the servers properties in AD S&S?

Per my knowledge, the settings itself won’t impact on the exchange. Yet, if AD replication goes wrong after removing the IP, it might be potential
problem for exchange users eventually
So, please ensure that AD replication is running well after removing the IPJames Luo

Ok, thanks for the info. Sounds like it should be ok to remove it.
