Exchange 2003 - moving public folder database location
Hi, I have 200GB of Public Folders on a server that needs to move to a new drive. My plan is to dismount the database, edit the properties to set the location of the database and log files, wait for the copy to complete. Question is should I disable public folder replication? I have 4 exchange servers each hosting / replicating public folders. My intention is to move the database at 11pm so it has all night to move. Thanks. Fizzmo

Why not use the built in process to move the database? It will dismount the database for you, move the content and remount it. No further intervention required. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Yes your right. I was more concerned with PF rplication storm post migration. Still settings are "non-urgent" so this would backup off from a storm of replication traffic. Thanks for the sanity check. Fizzmo

Moving the database using the built in process wouldn't affect replication traffic anyway. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
