Exchange 2003 - Outlook 2007 - Out of Office Assistant NOT WORKING!
We recently upgraded our computers to Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007. We recently tried to use the out of office assistant feature but it would not work and there was no error messages delivered either. We are running them on a Server which is running Microsoft exchange 2003. We have 5 people that are going to be out of the office next week and it will be a disaster if we can't resolve this issue or come up with another solution. Please someone HELP!!!!

If you set it through OWA, does it work then? Often clearing the rules from the command line will correct it. outlook.exe /cleanrules Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Sometimes run outlook.exe /clean rules will not clean the rules successfully. I would like to introduce two tools to view the rules and remove the rules. 1. Use a tool called MFCMAPI to confirm whether the Out of Office message is set or not. 1-a. First run the MFCMapi.exe file which will launch the main MFCMapi window as well as an About MFCMAPI window which you can close straight away via the OK button. 1-b. Back at the MFCMapi window, click the Session menu option followed by the Logon and Display Store Table option. The familiar Outlook profile window will now be presented and here you’ll obviously want to choose the relevant profile you are working with. 1-c. The connection should now be made and you’ll see the user connection in the main window. For example we’ve connected to User 3’s mailbox. 1-d. Select the mailbox profile from the list displayed. In other words, we’d select the line that contains Mailbox – User3 in the Display Name column. Once you’ve done this the lower pane should be populated with information. 1-e. In the lower pane, scroll down until you find the entry that has a name property of PR_OOF_STATE. Look in the Value column, where you should see either the letter T for true or F for false. 1-f. We can therefore see from Figure 5 that MFCMAPI confirms that Out of Office is set for User 3, since the value of PR_OOF_STATE is true. 2. Use a utility called MDBVU32 to clean the rules. You can down load the tools via: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3d1c7482-4c6e-4ec5-983e-127100d71376&DisplayLang=en The file you download include the information about how to use it.
