Exchange 2003 - Migrating mailbox to PST file. Hotfix for password not working.
HiI am using the migration wizardto migrate a mailbox to an pst file. Their is a hotfix that is suppose to be able to be installed that allows you to be able to do this without creating a password for thepst. One of the prerequisites is: You must be running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or a later service pack to apply this hotfix.Well, I am running SP2 and it will not allow me to install the hotfix. This is the error I'm getting.Setup has detected that the service pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it.You can install this update on Service Pack 1 only.Any help?ThanksArnie

Hi Arnie,This happens if Exchange server already has higher version.- Compare the file "Mlmig32.dll" which is being replaced by hotfix(for version, date,filesizeetc..)with the current one available on your Exchange server.- If current one is higher then check out registry mentioned in KB of the hotfix and go ahead for migration to PST....Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Hi Amit,Yeah, it definately is strange. The hotfix will not install so I went to the next step to change the registry setting and I do not even have the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\MSExchangeMailMigThat is basically all that is listed in the KB article.Arnie Arnie
